President Marcelo only considers second round with PS in case of tie in emigration votes

-

The head of state, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, only admits having a new conversation with Pedro Nuno Santos, SIC found, and only in the event that the PS is tied with the PSD in the number of deputies counting the emigration votes.

If so, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa already knows how to break the tie: he nominates the leader of the party with the most votes, which apparently will be Luís Montenegro (PSD).

The President’s hearings with the parties began on Monday, at a rate of one per day, with the exception of tomorrow when he will receive the Bloco de Esquerda and the Liberal Initiative.

Next week, he will receive Chega, PS and AD on the 20th, the day on which the distribution of emigration deputies will be known.

Four deputies missing

The four deputies for emigration are yet to be determined. The Democratic Alliance (AD), which brings together PSD, CDS and PPM, with 29.49%, won 79 deputies in the Assembly of the Republic, in Sunday’s legislative elections, against 77 for the PS ( 28.66%), followed by Chega with 48 elected deputies (18.06%).

IL, with eight seats, BE, with five, and PAN, with one, maintained the number of deputies. Livre went from one to four elected representatives while the CDU lost two seats and was left with four deputies.
