A 21-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of stabbing a couple of lovers after a fight at a nightclub in Barcelos in November last year, the Judiciary Police (PJ) announced.
In a statement, the PJ states that the detainee is accused of two crimes of qualified homicide, in the attempted form.
It all happened in the early hours of November 4th. “Two groups were involved in a heated argument inside a nightlife space, ending up being expelled by the establishment’s security,” the PJ said in a statement.
On the public road, in the vicinity of that space, the groups continued the discussion, ending up attacking each other.
“The suspect, belonging to one of the groups, armed with a knife, attacked a man and a woman from the rival group, causing them serious injuries, namely a puncture wound in the torso area, putting their lives at risk, mainly that of the male element”, adds the PJ.
The victims are a couple, he is 20 and she is 24 years old.
The detainee will be presented to the competent judicial authorities at the Guimarães Court, for the first judicial interrogation and application of coercive measures.
