The Municipality of Azambuja will mark, next Thursday, March 21st, the celebrations of World Water Day and World Day of Trees and Forests with the holding of an event within the scope of Environmental Education, which will feature the participation of several partners .
The Jardim Urbano Dr. Joaquim António Ramos, in Azambuja, will be the stage, during the morning, for a set of awareness-raising activities open to the public, but essentially aimed at pre-school children.
The initiative aims to provide participants with diverse recreational experiences associated with the themes “protection of Forests” and “the importance of Water as a scarce and precious resource.” It is intended that, through these experiences, children understand the value of nature and become more aware of environmental problems and motivated to adopt healthy habits.
In the garden area, there will be a set of information spaces and interactive workshops based on the themes of the day. The City Council, through the Environment service, will provide the workshops “My teddy goes to the vet” and “Come and see the classified Azambuja tree, the bees and the pine caterpillar”; for the Sports service, it will promote various recreational games; and the Forest Sappers will demonstrate their civil protection work equipment.
The event will also feature the collaboration and proposals of several partners from the Municipality of Azambuja. The company Águas da Azambuja will present the workshop “We are water”, which is also the name of a book that will be distributed; the consumer protection association DECO will promote the slogan “The water is not yours, it is not mine… it belongs to all of us!”; and the waste collection and treatment company Ecoambiente will bring a presentation of its equipment to the event.
Remember that this initiative to celebrate Water, Trees and Forests will take place on March 21st, between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm.
