22nd edition of the Ria Formosa Marcha-Corrida takes place on March 22nd

The 22nd edition of the Ria Formosa Marcha-Race will take place on March 24, 2024 (Sunday), being included in the municipality’s Events Program and in the Marcha-Race calendar of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth.

This initiative will feature two routes (one longer, 10Km and the other shorter, 7Km), with the concentration point being Vale das Almas (on the grounds of the International Motorcycle Concentration), in the parish of Montenegro, in the middle of the Natural Park. of Ria Formosa, being aimed at all age groups. The match is scheduled for 10:00 am, with the participants gathering scheduled for an hour before and the warm-up will take place at 9:50 am.

All those who join this action will have the possibility, in addition to taking part in the sporting event, to develop different parallel activities, ranging from health screenings (with the measurement of Blood Pressure, Glycemia and Cholesterol, carried out by the Care Unit in the Community – ARS Algarve/ACES Central), to musical shows, with the collaboration of the Faro Folklore Group.

A “children’s entertainment area” (with inflatables) and a street food area will also be available to everyone. There will also be a space to offer t-shirts to participants.

Contact with nature and practicing physical exercise outdoors are always, however, the main attraction for this initiative, which takes place next to the Ria Formosa Natural Park (considered one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal). In fact, the event, which has attracted a large number of participants (this year, between 1000 and 1500 people are expected), is considered one of the best and biggest sporting events on the calendar of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth , with the beauty of the place where the activity takes place, the routes available, the entertainment and organization, factors that always contribute to the success of the event.

The municipality also wishes that it serves as a moment to raise awareness about the preservation of the environment and the care measures that each citizen (for example, waste collection) must take, especially when practicing sports, to improve health. quality of the space where we live, even more so, when the setting is the Ria Formosa, habitat unique and of particular importance for the municipality and the region.
