24 years ago, in January 2001, Joaquim Alves took office as president of the Resende Volunteer Firefighters, a ‘house’ that, after some “financial problems”today “breathe health”.
This Friday, March 15th, the corporation marks its 74th anniversary of service to the population and, in statements to the newspaper A TRUTH, the president marks the date with several thanks, starting with the fire department. “My thanks always go, first and foremost, to the firefighters who serve the institution. They are the basis of the success we have had in recent years. We have already had great difficulties, but, fortunately, things have taken a better path. Therefore, it has been going well, even financially, because at the moment we are a relaxed association”ensures.
Secondly, Joaquim Alves thanks the management team, “which has been fantastic and has ensured that the firefighters always provide a good service. Sérgio Monteiro (commander) was a firefighter for many years and does everything for pleasure. Our management team has been excellent”.
At this moment, the house breathes health
The commander also does not forget the social bodies, which are in their 24th term. “Most of the social bodies have been following me since the beginning and, therefore, here we are for another fight, for another mandate and we hope that it will be as successful as the others have been. We had a lot of difficulties, in the beginning, we went through great difficulties, especially financial ones, but, at this moment, the house is healthy”.
Joaquim Alves ends his thanks by highlighting the Municipal Council of Resende, which “It has helped a lot. We would also like to thank the companies that have supported us a lot through donations”.
Addressing the residents of Resende, the president of the Resende Volunteer Firefighters leaves a message of optimism for the future. “To say that you feel safe, because we are here to provide the best possible services and the best possible service is always for our residents and for Portugal abroad, where we are called to intervene and have provided a good service”emphasizes.
Through social media, the corporation left a message marking the anniversary: “Congratulations to our Association today. Our Association has been serving its population for 74 years. One life, several generations and the same love and commitment of our firefighters towards the people of Resendense. Congratulations to all the Firefighters on the Active Staff, Command and Management of this Association, to all the professionals who work there and to everyone who has ever been part of this house, especially the members of the Honor Roll and all those who unfortunately are no longer there among us! Congratulations Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Resende. For another 74 years serving Resende.”
