On the 14th of March, the Fundação da Criança e da Juventude – S. Tomé e Príncipe became part of the Local Social Action Council of Faro, being the first time that a social institution with headquarters outside the national territory joins the municipality’s social network.

The City Council brought together the municipality’s Local Social Action Council, which added, to the current 104 partner entities, three new non-profit organizations, Prometo Viver – Associação Gonçalo Assunção; AEQUUM – Support for LGBTI + Inclusion and the Children and Youth Foundation – S. Tomé and Príncipe, which made known their mission, objectives and intervention, reinforcing the cohesion of this social network.

During the plenary, the status of the Childhood Guarantee projects was reviewed, which aims, according to the Farense municipality, «to develop support networks for children and youth and Radar Social – an integrated system of social georeferencing and training, whose start of activity is scheduled for April, ending in March 2026».

YMCA Portugal was also heard, which presented a project to train social institutions, and Deco – Faro Delegation, which presented the services registered with the Municipality of Faro, available to citizens and institutions.

The work session also included the viewing of the video “No acceptance, period! – National Campaign for the Prevention of Violence Throughout the Life Cycle”, promoted by the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Young People, in partnership with DGEst and DGS, which aims to alert citizens to the impact of living in environments of violence, raising awareness of the urgency of breaking cycles of inter-generational violence.

The video can be viewed on the CNPDPCJ page. The plenary session ended with a call for participation and dissemination of Faro’s Participatory Budget, which is in the voting phase and will run online until March 31st.
