The Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre changed the name of two of its schools. The Elvas Higher Agricultural School is renamed the Elvas Higher School of Biosciences and the Higher School of Technology and Management adopts the name Higher School of Technology, Management and Design.
Changing the name to Higher School of Technology, Management and Design corresponds to the development and relevance of the Design area at the School, which has been consolidated over the years of its existence, resulting today in a set of courses recognized for their quality, with a growing number of students and a qualified teaching staff.
Design thus sees reflected in the School’s designation the importance it represented and will continue to represent for the growth and prestige of the institution.
In Elvas, the objective was to create the necessary conditions to propose other training offers, in different domains of knowledge, with a view to making the most of existing resources, at the level of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences, enhancing multidisciplinarity and expanding the range of choices available for students to apply to the Polytechnic of Portalegre, from a perspective of sustainability and territorial cohesion.
