Municipality of Leiria reinforces Health Centers with three operational assistants

As of this Tuesday, health centers in the municipality of Leiria will have three new operational assistants on duty, a measure aimed at improving the provision of healthcare to the population.

These three new assistants, made available by the Municipality of Leiria, will take on, among other tasks, supporting the nursing teams that provide home health care.

At the ceremony to formalize the redeployment of employees, the president of Leiria City Council, Gonçalo Lopes, highlighted that the Municipality will continue to invest in improving the conditions for providing health care to Leiria residents, an example of which is the Bata Branca project, which has already guaranteed more than 3,000 consultations for users without a family doctor.

“We will continue to invest in creating conditions to provide adequate responses in terms of health care to the population”, said Gonçalo Lopes, highlighting that the human resources now available are another example of this commitment, in a strategy of dialogue and cooperation with professionals of health.

In the same sense, the Municipality of Leiria delivered, at the end of last year, ten vehicles to the Health Centers, allocated to home support services in the municipality.

These investments are part of the process of transferring skills to the Municipality in the area of ​​Health, within which a strong investment has been made in the improvement and maintenance of health centers, as well as in the construction of new centers, with the objective to ensure the best working conditions for healthcare professionals.

The ceremony was also attended by the president of the board of directors of the Leiria Region Local Health Unit (ULSRL), Licínio Carvalho, and the coordinators of the Community Care Units, of the Arnaldo Sampaio and Gorjão Henriques Functional Units.
