Over the next nine months, the Startup Leiria and the MARE – Center for Marine and Environmental Sciences, at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiriawill offer nine dynamic and practical training sessions to professionals in the areas of Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology, Aquaculture and Food Innovation in Marine Resources to get them to look at entrepreneurship as a means of valuing and boosting their research projects.

During the mentoring sessions, each lasting one hour, participants will be able to look at their solutions as entrepreneurial projects and identify real problems, structure a sustainable response and learn to communicate their value. These sessions aim to combine the entrepreneurial ecosystem with the biotechnology and marine biology sector, in order to leverage innovative projects that raise awareness of sustainability, linking the sea to society.

“In the MARE Ignition sessions, we will help researchers answer fundamental questions to facilitate their entry into the entrepreneurial ecosystem. At the end of the program, these professionals will be able to understand how to face obstacles that may arise, raise financing, communicate their project to their target audience and how to make their product “sexy”, he comments Vítor Ferreira, CEO of Startup Leiria.

“A program like this is extremely important in the growth of innovative projects that present solutions to current problems that affect not only the environment and marine resources, but also society in general. It is essential that we invest more in the projects of these researchers that are linked to issues of sustainability and the preservation of our oceans and natural resources and that the great knowledge they bring is transmitted beyond the scientific community”, he says. Maria M. Gil, coordinator of MARE-Polytechnic of Leiria.

The second session is this Tuesday, March 19th, which, like the others, will take place at 2 pm, in Peniche, on Avenida do Porto de Pesca, where the MARE center’s headquarters are located, the CETEMARES Building.

Registration for the program has now opened and can be submitted through this form.
