According to the municipality, this is a new green space of around seven hectares, which arises in the Prado area, close to the town’s urban center.

In a statement, the chamber, led by Mário Artur Lopes, proposed the idea of planting a hundred native trees on this date, which marks World Tree Day.

This initiative “also represents the symbolism granted to each of the 100 trees, associated with 100 different years of the 800 ‘life’ of the municipality of Murça, since the granting of its charter”.

This is a “careful selection of the most important historical facts that occurred between 1224 and 2024 and that are related to Murça or the history of Portugal and that can be consulted on the municipality’s website”.

Parque do Prado is located next to the main entrance road to Murça, making it greener and more lively. “It will be a space for public access and use, serving not only the inhabitants but also those who visit this municipality, using the pedestrian or cycle path, with areas dedicated to leisure, socializing, cultural events, sports, health promotion and well-being, and always in perfect communion with biodiversity”, highlights the same note.

The president of the municipality, Mário Artur Lopes, emphasizes that “this is a new and ambitious project, a continuous process, of phased execution, and which aims to transform the image of Murça, connecting Parque do Prado to the town, in a functional and harmonious way , without forgetting the environmental component”.
