“Toino & Laurinda”: Meet the most famous street theater duo in Oliveira do Hospital

The well-known street theater duo Toino & Laurinda are the faces of the Festa do Queijo Serra da Estrela de Oliveira do Hospital, which takes place next weekend, March 23rd and 24th, and promises to liven up the event.

Toino plays the character of a shepherd who is always drunk and Laurinda is the wife and cheesemaker who is constantly admonishing her husband for his drunken state.

Together they give life to a fun duo that has been present at the main events in the municipality, as well as as in other initiatives, such as the famous Oliveira Women’s Dinner at the Hospital, where the duo began their journey.

Toino is Carlos Pereira who takes on the role of Laurinda’s husband, a character played by José Alfredo.

The taste for theater, in particular street theater, is shared by both of them, who became aware of the art of acting since they were children. A taste that has always been well understood by Carlos Pereira’s parents, but not so much by José Alfredo, who is now doing what he couldn’t do as a child.

Now, together they bring to life the duo that easily brings smiles to those who see and listen to them.
