About a year ago, the couple went to a family health unit in Gondomar with a baby girl who was around four months old. They claimed that the girl, supposedly born on October 26 in Extremadura, Spain, was the result of an extramarital relationship between the man and a Spanish woman and they wanted her to be vaccinated and integrated into their family because they were going to take her in.
As they did not have any document identifying the child or proving parental status, eventual adoption, regulation of parental authority or transfer of parental responsibilities, the baby ended up not being accepted at the health unit.
They presented a false identity card
Two months later, on May 5, 2023, they returned to the health center, but this time they showed the minor’s citizenship card, showing her as their daughter and with a birth date of December 20, 2022.
The case came to the attention of the PJ’s Northern Directorate, which opened an investigation. DNA tests “allowed us to unequivocally conclude that the baby is not the daughter of any of the couple”, states a statement from the PJ.
The minor was handed over to a shelter. Investigations continue, with the Spanish authorities, with a view to completely clarifying the facts and determining the criminal responsibility of all those involved in the case.
The man has a criminal record for the crimes of robbery and theft. Both will be presented to the judicial authority for the application of coercive measures.
