Infralobo and Infraquinta raised awareness among Almancil students about ecological awareness

The two municipal companies provided trees and plants to schools and kindergartens, as well as preparing the land and helping to plant the species provided.

This Thursday, as a way to mark World Tree Day and International Day of Forests, the administrators of Infralobo, Carlos Manso and Pedro Pimpão da Infraquinta, planted two trees with students and teachers at Escola Dr. António de Sousa Agostinho, in Almancil.

In statements to Algarve First, the administrator of Infralobo, said that the initiative raised the importance of environmental sustainability among new generations. «Last year we carried out an initiative of this kind, but this year, not only did we mark World Tree and Environment Day, but a series of activities were carried out during “Environment Week” with the planting of fruit trees in a more didactics so that students understand that fruits come from trees and follow their development». Carlos Manso said that these initiatives aim to raise the awareness of younger people to pass on the culture of the two municipal companies in the municipality. «With this symbolic gesture, if we manage to change the minds of two or three people, it is already important, because if we change our small world, we can change a larger world, the one we live in», he commented.

Pedro Pimpão, explained that despite being a symbolic initiative, «we try to gain some scale here, because the more we are, the more importance and relevance it brings to this theme and, as a student work that was shown here says, trees make the retention of rainwater, and therefore, nature takes care of itself. We have to give it space to treat itself and not interfere as we often do. It is through this environmental education with the youngest, in essence, those who can take this message of relationship with nature home and grow with this awareness, that we want to make it a practice every day».

The administrator of Infraquinta recalled that the two companies have carried out joint actions, whether on the issue of water resources, tree planting, or in the area of ​​waste: «everything that is environmental sustainability is what moves us together, and everything which is in line with the largest institutions worldwide and at a local level such as the Loulé City Council, leads us to always carry out this type of activities together, because only then do we gain a voice so that nature benefits through actions local places, where we try to respond to a global call», he concluded.
