Coimbra City Council, in partnership with the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra (ISEC), is preparing to hold the conference “Electric Mobility: Challenges for Civil Protection”, scheduled for May 11th. The event will take place in the ISEC auditorium and aims to share knowledge and experiences between the various agents and entities linked to Civil Protection.

The conference will feature the participation of representatives from the municipality, ISEC, the Municipalized Urban Transport Services of Coimbra (SMTUC), Metro Mondego (MM), the National Fire School, as well as the companies Jacinto Marques De Oliveira, Sucessores, Lda. and Tecnilab AV Portugal SA. It is aimed at all professionals and entities involved in the area of ​​Civil Protection, and registrations can be made online until May 3rd. The number of participants is limited to 250 people.

The purpose of the conference is to promote safer and more efficient action in operations related to electric mobility, as well as demystify some pre-existing concepts in this area. Several topics will be highlighted, such as the current SMTUC electric mobility model, the future of mobility in the Coimbra region with the implementation of Metrobus, the significant growth of electric vehicles and the importance of the electric charging system in the municipality.

Registrations are aimed especially at Civil Protection agents, including Firefighters, National Institute of Medical Emergency, Portuguese Red Cross, Public Security Police, National Republican Guard, Municipal Civil Protection Services and Civil Protection students.

The event will start at 9:30 am, with the opening session, which will be attended by the Civil Protection councilor of the CM of Coimbra, Carlos Matias Lopes, and the president of ISEC, Mário Velindro. Several thematic sessions will follow throughout the day, covering topics such as batteries and charging systems, technical presentation of electric vehicles and electric mobility. The closure will be in charge of the councilor for Mobility and Transport at Coimbra City Council, Ana Bastos.
