Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) this Saturday did not go beyond fifth place in Q1, which reserved the last two places to access the qualification that decided the pole positionwon by Enea Bastianini (Ducati), for the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix.

The Portuguese rider concluded the session won by Alex Márquez (Ducati) 0.320 seconds behind the second fastest, rookie Pedro Acosta (KTM).

Miguel Oliveira once again struggled with the issues that prevented him from achieving, the day before, direct entry into Q2, compromising in the last sector his chances of still discussing a more favorable position on the grid, so he will start from 15th place to the Portimão race, second of the 2024 season.

With the time recorded this Saturday (1m38.385s), Miguel Oliveira would have gained direct access to Q2, even if the track conditions were different and the times were lower, as confirmed with Enea Bastianini repeating her first place from the previous day and conquer the polewith 1m37.706s (compared to Friday’s 1m38.057s).

Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) was second fastest (1m37.788s), after already being a sensation in the second training session, showing that the other Aprilia riders just need to adapt to the bike to get the most out of their potential.

Jorge Martín (Ducati) closes the front row of the grid (1m37.812s), with two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) achieving the fourth best time (1m37.922s), after having led the start of Q2.

Pedro Acosta (KTM) will start in seventh place, proving to be in good form, having even beaten South African Brad Binder (10), who had a crash at the start. Marc Márquez (Ducati) also took a risk and crashed at the start of Q2, finishing eighth, with the second bike.
