Canet spent 36.03.959 minutes to complete the 21 laps scheduled around the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA) circuit, leaving the North American Joe Roberts (American Racing) in second place, 2.059 seconds behind and the Spaniard Manuel González (Gresini) in third, at 2.610.

The race began to be led by Spaniard Alonso Lopez (Speed ​​Up) who, however, crashed while leading alone after losing the front in turn 13, 11 laps from the end.

Spaniard Fermin Aldeguer (Speed ​​Up) burned the match [arrancou antes do permitido] and was penalized with a double long lap, which dropped him from second to 14th.

From then on, he began a recovery that brought him to fourth place, 3.212 seconds behind the winner.

This was Aron Canet’s first victory in the intermediate category after 70 races, a feat achieved thanks to the “great work” carried out during the weekend in the Algarve.

“We have improved since the last race [no Qatar]. In the end, we did a great job during this weekend. I can not believe. Today we were four people on the motorbike: my two grandfathers, my wife’s grandfather and me. They gave me a lot of support throughout the race”, she expressed, after the triumph.

With this result, Canet takes the lead in the championship, with 31 points, two more than the American Joe Roberts.

The next round will be the GP of the Americas, in the United States, from April 12th to 14th.
