The films are part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the April 25, 1974 revolution in the municipality.

Four films will be shown.

Going to the cinema is good and, if it’s for free, even better. Well, if you are a true lover of the seventh art, at the beginning of April you can watch a series of four films inspired by freedom and the 25th of April 1974. The 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, which put an end to the dictatorship in Portugal, they are being celebrated intensely in the municipality of Seixal. Therefore, Seixal City Council decided to organize several film sessions, so that everyone can learn a little about the history and figures of the revolution.

The first film presented will be “Pátria”, a story that takes place in a country dominated by a dictatorship, where a man will be confronted with the growth of an extremist group that dominates the streets and that puts him and everyone around him in danger. in danger. In the end he will have only one choice: freedom or death.

The plot will be presented on April 3rd, at 9:30 pm, in the Seixal Municipal Forum Auditorium, where all the cinematographic pieces will be presented. Then, on April 4th, the film “Salgueiro Maia — O Implicado” will take place.

Through a modern, intimate and emotional approach, the production portrays the stories that have not yet been told about the Captain of April. The small revelations that allow us to better understand where the moderation, courage, education and firmness with which he always presented himself publicly came from, which were the key to the Carnation Revolution being peaceful. The screening starts at 9:30 pm.

On April 5th, at the same time and in the same place, Nayola will take over the big screen. Nayola goes looking for her husband, who disappeared at the height of the war. Decades later, the country is finally at peace, but the woman has not returned. Yara became a rebellious teenager and a subversive rap singer. Lelena tries to restrain her for fear that the police will come and arrest her. One night, a masked intruder breaks into the house armed with a machete.

Finally, on April 6th, you will have the opportunity to watch “A Cor da Liberdade”, a documentary based on the story of José Pedro Soares, a former political prisoner detained and tortured by PIDE between 1971 and 1974, which contextualizes Portugal and the its social reality at the time, through the memories of former political prisoners, historians, journalists and artists.

Entry is free to all events, but subject to advance reservation via the online form (70 percent of capacity) and at the Seixal Cultural Forum box office (remaining capacity), on the day of the event.
