Braga – Most Liberal Municipality in Portugal

Once the results of the legislative elections have been determined, it is worth highlighting the number of votes for the Liberal Initiative obtained in Braga, which reached a record of 10,301, an increase of almost 3 percentage points compared to the 2022 legislative elections.
This result follows a strong campaign, not only in the municipality, but throughout the district of Braga, where there were constant actions to mobilize members and supporters with the aim of publicizing the Liberal Initiative’s proposals for the country. In addition to campaign actions, the continuous and persistent work of Braga members throughout the year and at local level was also reflected in the electoral results, revealing a greater proximity to the electorate.
The spread of liberalism has triggered positive impacts in different spheres of society, promoting individual freedom that gives citizens the autonomy to make their own choices, amplifying each person’s voice.
Defending the separation of powers contributes to the fight for a fair and transparent political system. Accordingly, the promotion of civic participation and the rule of law are pillars that help strengthen democratic institutions and combat the rise of authoritarian regimes. By favoring a limited government, with less state intervention in the economy and in the lives of citizens, a more efficient and responsible administration is advocated when it comes to public resources, the reduction of waste and bureaucracy, ensuring that the government focuses on its essential functions.
In the economic field, free competition and a market economy are defended, which have proven to be a powerful engine for economic growth in other European countries, resulting in job creation, an increase in gross domestic product and greater access to goods and services.
In addition to economic growth, liberalism also fosters innovation and scientific progress, by promoting an environment favorable to entrepreneurship and creativity. Freedom of initiative and protection of private property encourage the development of new technologies, crucial for progress.
Braga has already taken a step forward in relation to liberalism since the last legislative elections, evidenced by the growing support for the Liberal Initiative, which reflects an effective mobilization campaign and the positive impact on the region. By defending individual freedom, the separation of powers and encouraging liberal economic policies, we can move towards a social and economic model that has proven capable of strengthening democracy, boosting growth and encouraging innovation.
