The Hospital’s Serra da Estrela de Oliveira Cheese Festival held this weekend was a success. Thousands of people flocked to the municipality over the two days of the event, where Serra da Estrela Cheese once again became king, with the contribution of other endogenous products of excellent quality.
On Sunday, the biggest day of the event, which featured the live broadcast of TVI’s Somos Portugal program, a real flood took over the city center, where a strong cultural component was also available, with entertainment guaranteed in every corner.
The animal exhibition was also a great attraction, joined by others such as the preparation of mega cream cheese by the county’s cheesemakers, as well as the making of the largest cheese and pumpkin dessert pizza prepared by Pizzeria L’Artista, with an important social focus. , with part of the amount raised to be channeled to the Social Resources Bank of Oliveira do Hospital.
On a path of growth year after year, the event will continue on this path, as assured yesterday afternoon by the President of the City Council, José Francisco Rolo.
Live on the program Somos Portugal, he considered that the “fair has to grow” and discussed the possibility of the event being extended to three days, starting on Friday with “culture and activities that make visitors arrive earlier and then enjoy a weekend of cheese festival”. The completion of the requalification of the city’s History Zone will contribute to this, which will provide “a new civic center”.
In the 2024 edition, the Municipal Council of Oliveira do Hospital once again demonstrated excellent organization around the event, which is a reference in the country and is already known as “the biggest cheese fair in Portugal”.
