New Era of European Funds: President of Arronches advances with Investment of 3 Million euros.

On the morning of last Friday, March 22, the auditorium of the Alentejo Regional Coordination and Development Commission was the stage for the signing of the Contracts for Development and Territorial Cohesion – Alentejo 2030, involving several intermunicipal communities, including that of Alto Alentejo. An event of great significance for the region, which was attended by the president of the Arronches City Council, João Crespo. Campanário radio made a point of being present and spoke with the mayor about future projects for the municipality.

Is today a remarkable day, which can be considered as the beginning of a new era for local authorities when it comes to European funds in this new cycle?

“Without a doubt, we were eagerly awaiting this day, a milestone that I consider historic, which is finally coming to fruition and which will enable municipalities to implement their development strategies”.

“In Arronches, we have already started to carry out some works that were planned and that the financial situation of the municipality allowed us to start. However, it is clear that there are other municipalities that have been waiting for this moment to begin their projects”.

When asked about the total planned investment, including projects already underway and planned, the president replied: “We have several projects that we intend to implement. We estimate that the municipality of Arronches will apply for a total investment of around 3 million euros, to be made by the end of 2027, as required by the program”.

“We’ll see how things evolve. The situation is not easy, especially due to the difficulty companies have in hiring workers, which can complicate the implementation of projects.”

“We already have an important project in a rural parish, budgeted at 630 thousand euros, about to start, despite the company responsible having already indicated difficulties in hiring labor. But we remain hopeful that everything will go well, and in the end, we will do the math.”
