It is scheduled for this Tuesday, the 26th, the inauguration of the 230 deputies elected in the legislative elections of March 10th, won by the Democratic Alliance (AD). Among the ten parliamentarians elected by the district – five from the Democratic Alliance (AD), three from the Socialist Party (PS) and two from Chega – there are six debuts and four continuities.
Among the newcomers are Telmo Faria, Sofia Carreira, João Santos and Ricardo Carvalho (AD); Walter Chicharro (PS) and Luís Paulo Fernandes (Chega). Hugo Oliveira (AD), Eurico Brilhante Dias and Ana Sofia Antunes (PS) and Gabriel Mithá (Chega) repeat the role, the same happening with João Moura, president of the Municipal Assembly of Ourém, who was re-elected by Santarém.
These are the deputies elected by Leiria in the legislative session that begins this Tuesday:
Telmo Faria (AD)
Telmo Faria: Former president of the Chamber of Óbidos, who he led between 2001 and 2013, was the head of the AD list in the district in these legislative elections, which marked his return to political life, after an 11-year break, during the which is dedicated to business activity, with businesses in the hotel sector. Graduated in History, 52 years ago.

Also from Lisbon, the city where he was born in 1981, he was number two on the PS list for Leiria. She has a degree in Law and practices law in the areas of administrative, urban planning and real estate law. In the 2022 legislative elections she was a candidate and elected deputy for Lisbon. She was part of the two Governments of António Costa as Secretary of State for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities.
Walter Chicharro (PS)
President of the Chamber of Nazaré since 2013, he leaves his third term halfway to take up the position of deputy. He has a degree in Management, a postgraduate degree in Communication and Marketing and an MBA in Municipal Management, and, for more than two decades, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry. He leads the PS District Federation.
Gabriel Mithá (Enough)
He repeats his election as deputy for Leiria, which he had achieved in 2022. Born in Mozambique, he has lived in Portugal since 1980 and is married to a Portuguese woman who has family connections with Pombal. Graduated in History, he also has a master’s and doctorate in African Studies. He made a career as a teacher, researcher and essayist. In 2020, he was elected vice-president of Chega, but resigned from the position two years later.
