Scarecrow Exhibition welcomes spring and beautifies Fafe gardens (W/PHOTOS)

Twenty-two scarecrows appeared throughout the gardens in the city center of Fafe, on March 21, in an initiative promoted by the Municipal Library, to mark the beginning of spring and World Poetry Day.

The exposure “Justo, the scarecrow poet” It is now in its second edition and is made up of these symbols of the season created by associations, communities, schools, parish councils, training and social centers in the municipality.

“With this exhibition we intend to recover and dynamize a tradition which has lost expression over time and raise awareness in the local community about the tradition of executing scarecrows, as well as its importance, promoting creativity and stimulating the creative spirit and involvement around an initiative that calls for the reduction and waste reuse“, explains the municipality, in a statement.

The opening moment of the exhibition was attended by the mayor, the reading of poems by members of the Núcleo de Artes e Letras de Fafe (NALF), the Association of Former Teachers, Employees and Students of the Industrial and Commercial School of Fafe (AAPAEIF) , students from the Secondary School and the writer Albino Abreu. The animation was carried out by the Cercifaf Drum Group and the AAPAEIF Cavaquinho Group.

This exhibition is composed of 22 scarecrows prepared by the Cultural and Recreational Association of Travassós, Parish Council of Vinhós, Cultural and Recreational Association of Fornelos, Basic School of Arões S. Romão, Parish Council of Arões Santa Cristina, Basic School Padre Joaquim Flores, AAPAEIF, Bolota Campestre, Grupo Coral de Armil, Coral de Antime – Cultural and Recreational Group, CERCIFAF – Training and Employment Center, Association of Pensioners of Arões São Romão, Basic School of Quinchães, Basic School of Moreira do Rei, Parish of Cepães and Fareja, Kindergarten of Antime, Parish Council of Arões S. Romão, Community Center of Ardegão, Arnozela and Seidões, Basic School of Seidões, Fafe Delegation of the Portuguese Red Cross, Basic School of Fareja and the Parish Council of Paços.

The II Scarecrow Exhibition is open until April 21st.
