In his opinion, “this phenomenon reinforces the need for a more integrated approach to urban and transport planning, aiming for greater territorial cohesion and sustainability of cities and their peripheries”, as there are “major inefficiencies in urban mobility” in AML and AMP . As he reveals, “it is the municipalities with a more inefficient public transport service that have a higher supply of properties with lower values, such as the Municipality of Loures and others on the South Bank of the Tagus”.

The same weaknesses are identified in the AMP, but in the “North Region there is a more complete and comprehensive urban train service, allowing families and young people to have more and more affordable housing options – whether south to Aveiro, north to Braga, Guimarães and Marco de Canavezes -, as well as surface metro lines that connect the city of Porto to different municipalities, such as Póvoa de Varzim, Maia, Gondomar, Gaia and Valongo”, considers the CEO of Century 21.

In the Algarve, the picture of the offer is no different. Properties suitable for middle class income represent 19% of the total on the market. When the analysis focuses on the Municipality of Faro, this availability drops to 17%. For families with high incomes, the options cover 49% of the portfolio in the region and 38% in Faro.

In the national total, 42% of homes for sale fit the middle class economic profile and 32% were designed for more fortunate families.
