The Easter Delicatessen Fair, which is taking place at Praça da República, in Viana do Castelo, was canceled today and tomorrow, due to adverse weather conditions.
The event is part of the “Páscoa Doce” program, organized by the Municipal Council of Viana do Castelo, the Diocese of Viana do Castelo and the Business Association of Viana do Castelo, with the collaboration of Vianafestas.
On Holy Thursday, the Cathedral hosts the Chrism Mass, at 10 am. At 7pm, that religious space is the stage for the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, with foot washingspresentation of offerings for the poor and Procession of the Blessed Sacrament.
That night, the city promotes the traditional visit to Churches and Chapels, in a true religious itinerary through 23 spaces.
On Good Friday, March 29th, at 10:00 am, Office of Readings and Lauds – Sé Cathedral. At 3pm, Celebration of the Passion of the Lord and, at 9pm, Stations of the Cross in the City.
On Holy Saturday, March 30th, at 11 am, DIXIE BAND – Zé Pedro Associação Musical de Viana do Castelo promotes a street rally through the historic center. The Queimas de Judas is already a tradition in the Viennese municipality: at 11 am, in a procession through the streets of the city from the train station (arrival at 12 pm at Campo d’Agonia), at 9 pm in the Churchyard of the Parish Church of Deocriste and at 11 pm in Largo das Neves.
On Easter Sunday, Viana do Castelo City Council opens its doors to Compasso Pascal at 9:00 am. The Sé Cathedral has a Eucharist scheduled for 9:30 am, 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Easter for Three, in Largo das Neves, ends the program at 12:30 pm on April 1st, with a set of initiatives that take place during the Easter period in the communities that toast at Mesa dos Três Abades – Barroselas, Mujães and Vila de Punhe.
