The public and private members of the Regional Tourism Entity (ERT) of Alentejo and Ribatejo unanimously approved the management account and the activity report for 2023, in what was considered the best tourist year ever.
As a major highlight of the management from the previous year, ERT highlights “the PROVERE strategy for the valorization, promotion and internationalization of Wine Tourism and the preparation of a major promotion campaign in the cross-border market with Spain”.
In terms of activities, it highlights “the promotional campaigns carried out in the domestic market, the promotion of several special actions, such as support for the Wine Capital in Ribatejo and other reference events in both destinations”.
Regarding the qualification of resources, ERT continued “the work of consolidating the Caminhos de Santiago, with the structuring of the Caminho da Raia and the opening of the Via Atlântico”.
“The line of action regarding the valorization of Cycling was also continued, with the development of a new thematic portal and the carrying out of several activation actions. There was also great momentum in hiking and industrial tourism, with several activities carried out”, highlights ERT.
“Also in terms of management, we created value for the organization”, stated José Santos, President of the Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo, when referring to the net result of the year, positive in more than five hundred thousand euros, and also the decrease of the institution’s liabilities.
The head of the tourism region also emphasized the management’s execution rate, which was eighty-one percent, having soared in the last five months of the year.
“Despite the difficulties that have been placed on us, such as the captivations decreed this year to the investment funds in our budget, a situation that I cannot accept, we remain firm and committed to fulfilling our mission and action program”, concluded the President of Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo.
