The textile company Familitex, based in Barcelos, ended 2023 with a turnover of 23 million euros, preparing to launch a new Spring-Summer 2025 collection “focused on sustainability”.

Speaking to Jornal T, Ana Araújo, responsible for the company’s marketing and innovation department, highlights that the new collection will feature “95 high quality knits”, standing out for “the use of noble materials, such as organic cotton and recycled polyester” .

Ana Araújo highlights that Familitex invests in “regenerative cotton” and that the company has reduced carbon emissions by using bio-based elastane, from corn.

As O MINHO reported, in 2023 the company launched an elastane made 30% from corn, an organic product that replaced coal in the creation process.

Also highlighted is the use of pre-consumer recycled yarn, which creates “a mesh with a composition of 100% recycled multifibers, which brings together all the spinning waste with the most varied fibers”.

“The textile company thus intends to highlight its position in the area of sustainability in the market, with a 100% recycled knit collection, timeless and transversal to all collections”, said the Familitex group, founded in 1999.

In addition to the yarn coming from spinning waste, the entire process is considered sustainable, because “there is a reduction in water and chemicals in its production”.

The group recently installed 551 photovoltaic panels and implemented a system – Smartex – which allows the detection of defects in the production process (weaving) and, thus, reducing waste.

With a turnover of 23 million euros in 2023, in a global economic scenario that presented several challenges, Familitex “remains committed to growing”, highlighted the person in charge.
