The Braga Chamber will analyze a proposal on the “Plan for Longevity”, a “tool” to specifically meet “the needs of the elderly”, it was announced today.
The proposal will be voted on next Monday, at a Chamber meeting, with the name “Gerontological Plan 2024-2027”, already “approved by the Braga Social Network”, says the municipality in a statement sent to O MINHO.
“The plan asserts itself as a fundamental tool to meet the specific needs of the older population in local contexts, promoting their well-being, autonomy and quality of life”, says the municipality.
In this way, it is hoped, the municipality will be “more able to face the challenges of an aging population, creating an inclusive environment and optimizing the quality of life of all its residents, regardless of age”.
This project included “analyses of demographic aspects, social and health resources and multidimensional gerontological assessment”, a situation that “allows the identification of needs and opportunities that highlight the relevance of developing municipal policies with a view to promoting active and healthy aging ”.
The plan – adds the municipality -, “as an instrument for planning and strategic development in the context of aging and human longevity, is linked to other similar instruments of the Municipality, namely the Municipal Health Plan 2021-2026, the Municipal Plan for Equality and Non-Discrimination 2022-2027 and the Municipal Plan for the Integration of Migrants 2022”.
