The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, informs that the Azores registered 4,943 unemployed people registered at the Region’s Qualification and Employment Center at the end of February, a decrease of 0.20% compared to the previous month and 12.28% compared to the same month.

In the month of February, another 119 offers were satisfied, which resulted in the placement of 124 Azoreans on the job market.

Of the unemployed people who were looking for a new job, 76.40% were in the service sector and corresponded to 89.84% of all registered unemployed people.

Regarding the distribution by island, São Miguel registered 66.19% of unemployed people in the Region, the island of Terceira, 16.08%, Pico, 5.81%, Faial, 4.23%, São Jorge, 2.23%, Graciosa , 2.02%, Flores, 2.02%, Santa Maria, 1.38% and Corvo 0.04%.

As for the municipalities in the region, Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande and Angra do Heroísmo represented 57.98% of all unemployed people registered in the Azores.

Regarding socio-professional integration programs, in February 2024, there were 1818 employed people in the Region, 976 men and 842 women.

Regarding measures to promote youth employment, 1630 young people were observed developing projects in a real work context, with emphasis on Estagiar L and T, and 285 Azoreans in training.
