The list headed by Francisco Calheiros to lead the Portuguese Tourism Confederationrepresenting the Portuguese Hotel, Restaurant and Similar Association – AHRESP – was elected for the next term from 2024 to 2027. The election took place this Wednesday, March 27th, in the General Electoral Assembly, with the single list that attended the election and received 94.9% of the total number of votes cast.

“I note with satisfaction the expressive vote in this electoral act, which means a vote of confidence from CTP members in this list made up of representatives of national Tourism. In this new mandate, we intend to continue the work we have been developing in favor of the Tourism sector and in defense of the interests of our members”. Francisco Calheiros adds: “In this next three-year period we have many challenges ahead and there are several strategic priorities that we have defined, knowing well the difficulties we face, in a national and international situation of great uncertainty. But I am an optimist and I know well that we will be able to overcome all obstacles and continue to make Tourism the engine of the Portuguese economy”, stated the re-elected president.

The new corporate bodies for the next term have as president of the Board of the General Assembly, Sociedade Grupo Pestana, SGPS, SA, represented by José Theotónio and as president of the Supervisory Board Vila Galé – Sociedade de Empreendimentos Turísticos, SA, represented by Jorge Rebelo de Almeida.

For the 2024-2027 three-year period, the management of the Tourism Confederation highlights the reform of the State as the main strategic axes of the new mandate, in general terms; the execution of the PRR; PT2030; taxation and context costs and demographic issues.

Specifically for Tourism, the priority themes of CTP management until 2027 are support for the consolidation and internationalization of companies; the digital transformation, the privatization of TAP and obviously the decision on the new airport.
