Portugal Ventures invests 5.3 million in five tourism startups – Turismo & Leisure

Portugal Ventures, a venture capital company from the Banco Português de Fomento group, invested 5.3 million euros, in the first quarter of the year, in five startups in the tourism sector – Batardas, Circular Unity, Neptune, Yon Living and Your Tours .

These investments result from the 1st edition of Call Turismo+Crescimento, an initiative by Portugal Ventures in partnership with Turismo de Portugal and Nest – Innovation Center for Tourism.

The initiative aims to invest in projects/companies in the tourism sector that contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the country’s tourism offer, improving the tourist experience in Portugal and promoting the efficiency of companies in the sector.

Call Turismo+Crescimento “privileged projects involved in the 360º Tourism Companies Program and that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), presenting solutions that promote the dematerialization of processes and services, recycling, reuse and waste reduction, integration of clean energy , energy efficiency, water efficiency, smart mobility, as well as those located in low-density territories”, highlights the venture capital in a statement.

“These new investments that now reinforce the tourism portfolio develop innovative solutions within their segment, combining tourism with other sectors that are absolutely fundamental to the development of the current economy, such as food, nautical, technology and sustainability “, points out Pedro de Mello Breyner, executive member of Portugal Ventures.

This ability to “create synergies and extract the best from each area” is the path to “a stronger, more dynamic future for the sector that responds to the needs of an emerging market”, adds the same person in charge.
