Marco de Canaveses: Celebrations of the 172nd anniversary of the founding of the municipality take place on April 6th

The celebrations of the 172nd anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Marco de Canaveses, which normally take place on March 31st, will be held on April 6th, as the anniversary day coincides with Easter.

Cristina Vieira, president of the Municipal Council of Marco de Canaveses, at the public meeting on March 22nd, explained that March 31st, as it is Easter Day, with a great tradition in the municipality, “It is not compatible with the organization of actions associated with the commemoration of the Foundation of the Municipality of Marco de Canaveses with the importance and dignity it deserves. Due to the historical importance of the date of the foundation of the municipality, the identity of the municipality itself and its cultural heritage, it is appropriate to carry out its usual celebrations, on a non-working day closest to the date, namely, on the first Saturday following, which is the 6th Of april”.

Therefore, on April 6th, the flags are scheduled to be raised at 3pm in the Town Hall, followed by a tribute to the founder of the council, Adriano José de Carvalho e Melo, in the Municipal Garden. At 4pm, the tribute to retired municipal workers will take place, which will take place at the Emergente Cultural Center.
