The Bank of Portugal will put into circulation, next Monday, April 8, a collector’s coin with a face value of five euros, called “100 Years of the Portuguese Skating Federation”.
In a statement, Banco de Portugal said that distribution to the public will be carried out through credit institutions, Banco de Portugal treasuries and Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda stores.
The coin “100 Years of the Portuguese Skating Federation” only has liberating power in Portugal.
The obverse features: occupying the entire central field, three figures illustrating the recent disciplines of roller freestyle, inline freestyle and skateboarding; at the top, on the left, the national shield; on the upper left edge, the caption “100 Years of the Portuguese Skating Federation”; on the lower right edge, the author’s indication.
On the reverse there are: occupying the entire central field, three figures illustrating the classic disciplines of figure skating, roller hockey and speed skating; on the left, the face value; on the upper left edge, the caption “República Portuguesa”; on the lower right edge, the legend “Casa da Moeda” and the year “2024”.
The Bank of Portugal states that the characteristics of this currency were approved by Ordinance No. 440/2023, published in the Diário da República, 1st series, No. 242, of 18 December.
An issuance limit of 30,000 coins with a normal finish was also defined.
