Autoeuropa: workers vote on pre-agreement with increases of 6.8% in 2024

-

Around 5,000 Volkswagen/Autoeuropa workers vote this Tuesday and Wednesday on a new labor pre-agreement valid for three years, which guarantees a salary increase of 6.8% in 2024, and 2.6%, or 0 .6 above inflation, in 2025 and 2026.

The pre-agreement reached between the Workers’ Committee (CT) and the car factory’s management, in addition to the expected percentage increases in the base salary, shift allowance and weekend work, also ensures an annual target bonus that could provide, on average, more than 2,500 euros to each worker

It also provides for a single bonus to be awarded in 2025, which should also be equivalent to one month’s salary, for the launch of the new T-Roc hybrid model, which will be produced from next year at the Volkswagen factory, in Palmela, in the district of Setúbal.

In an internal statement released this Tuesday, CT recalls that the planned increases, always above the average inflation of the previous year, safeguard the purchasing power of Autoeuropa workers, in the face of any internal or external factor, and that “they were only possible in a 3-year agreement”.

CT also states that, in 2024, the pre-agreement guarantees a minimum increase of 100 euros in the lowest salaries and, in 2025 and 2026, a minimum increase of 50 euros (in each year), which means that, until January From 2026, workers who earn less will have an increase of at least 200 euros, only in their base salary, a value that could be higher depending on a possible increase in the inflation rate.

Also in an internal communication addressed to workers, the general director of Autoeuropa, Thomas Hegel Gunther, highlights that the pre-agreement, if approved, guarantees “one of the highest salary increases in the history of Volkswagen/Autoeuropa”, but also “makes it difficult to financial situation and increases factory costs”, in challenging times for the European automotive industry.

Thomas Hegel Gunther also reminds workers that the “factory’s production cost is crucial for the company to earn another car” and asks them to reflect on the importance of stability that the pre-employment agreement can provide to the company.

The results of the vote on the Autoeuropa labor pre-agreement, which takes place this Tuesday and Wednesday, should be known late Wednesday afternoon.

Volkswagen Autoeuropa, one of the largest national exporters, last year produced a total of 220,100 T-Roc cars, the only model in production at the Palmela factory.
