UA 74-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, March 28th, for the crime of attempted murder using a firearm, which occurred in the town of Sarilhos Grandes, in the municipality of Montijo.
The National Republican Guard (GNR) was called “following a report of an argument on a public street between two men”, which culminated in “firearm shots”.
“The Guard soldiers quickly moved to the place where they intercepted a man who was in possession of a firearm”, reveals the Territorial Command of the National Republican Guard (GNR) of Setúbal in a statement.
The altercation led to the suspect firing “a shot at the victim’s back”, who “ended up not suffering any injuries given the distance from which the shot was fired”.
The septuagenarian was eventually arrested and “a pistol and seven ammunition” were seized.
The suspect was detained at GNR facilities until he was brought before the Barreiro Judicial Court on Saturday. He was subject to the most serious measure of coercion, preventive detention.
