As part of the celebrations of World Book and Copyright Day, which takes place on the 23rd of April, the Marinha Grande Municipal Library will carry out around 20 activities that will run until the 30th, starting today.

The Reading Festival will be dedicated to all ages with activities that aim to “promote reading, encourage literary and artistic creation, expand access to books and enrich cultural knowledge”, explains the municipality in a statement.

The municipality states that due to the “proximity of the events and the themes to be addressed” these activities are included in the programming of the celebrations (in the municipality) of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, in order to “celebrate the book, reading and freedom of expression”.

At the start, this Tuesday, April 2nd, International Children’s Book Day is celebrated and therefore a pedagogical theater session based on the book will be held at 3 pm, by Teatro do Botão. The Mystery Eggsby Luísa Ducla Soares and Manuela Bacelar.

“Based on tolerance, multiculturalism and less traditional family models, here is a fun show that appeals to the imagination of the youngest: with music, dolls and lots of adventure, everyone will want to participate!”, reads the publicity note sent. by the municipality.

As with all sessions, entry will be free, but prior registration is required by calling 244773322 or emailing [email protected].

During this month, various types of initiatives will also be available, such as a children’s music and poetry show with José Fanha and Daniel Completo, a workshop to create a handmade book, an exhibition of rag dolls inspired by children’s literature, an exhibition of drawing and painting, a reading animation, as well as several entertainment-musical shows, interactive reading sessions, book presentations and bibliographic exhibitions.
