Event is scheduled for the weekend of April 27th and 28th and includes entertainment, walking and local products
More than 20 cavaca producers will participate in this year’s edition of the Festival dedicated to the typical sweet from the municipality of Resende. The event is scheduled for the weekend of April 27th and 28th at Largo da Feira, in the center of the village.
The Festa das Cavacas will also make available other local products such as wines, liqueurs, jams and handicrafts and will bring popular music groups to liven up the initiative organized by the Chamber.
The program starts on the 27th, from 3pm to midnight. On the 28th, the party runs from 10am to 6pm.
This year, the program includes the Cavacas Walk, which will travel through the town of Resende on the first day of the event. The walk starts at 9am, gathering in front of the Town Hall.
Cavacas de Resende competed in 2019 for the “7 Sweet Wonders of Portugal”, having been voted the best sweet in the district of Viseu.
The recipe for cavacas, which are made almost exclusively with eggs and sugar, is centuries old and has been passed down from generation to generation, and is still made according to the traditional recipe.
Once the egg yolks have been added, the cavacas are, after being cooked, covered with a syrup of fine sugar and flour, which gives them a white color on the outside and yellow on the inside.
