ERC deliberates three days after legislative on survey published in Chega newspaper – Tv Media

The ERC urged Intercampus and the newspaper Folha Nacional (Chega) to comply with the polls law in a deliberation taken three days after the legislative elections, which was published this Tuesday on the media regulator’s website.

The Regulatory Entity for Social Communication (ERC) received, on February 22, two complaints for alleged non-compliance with the Surveys Law in carrying out and publishing a survey published by the periodical publication Folha Nacional, on its website, on that date.

The following day, contacted by Lusa, an official source stated that they had ordered the opening of an investigation process into a survey published by Chega in its newspaper Folha Nacional, carried out by the Brazilian company Paraná Pesquisas, not accredited by the regulator, under the title: “For For the first time, the poll presents a technical tie between PS, AD and Chega for the legislative elections” on March 10.

At the time, the director of Intercampus, António Salvador, confirmed to Renascença that his company had collected the information, with the data analysis being carried out by Paraná Pesquisas, adding that the opinion study was carried out on the condition that that was not disclosed in the media.

In the deliberation, dated March 13th, it is read that “after considering two complaints for alleged non-compliance with Law No. 10/2000, of June 21st (Survey Law)”, the Regulatory Council decided to “urge Intercampus to obligation to scrupulously comply with paragraph 2 of article 5 of the Surveys Law, alerting it to the possibility of confidential preventive deposit”.

It also resolves to “urge Folha Nacional to comply with the Surveys Law, regarding the duty to include all elements of mandatory publication imposed”, “namely the elements provided” such as the number of people surveyed, their geographical distribution and composition; the response rate and indication of any biases that non-respondents may introduce; an indication of the percentage of people surveyed whose answer was ‘don’t know/no answer’, as well as the percentage of people who declared that they will abstain; and the sampling method used, “under penalty of opening the corresponding administrative offense procedure”.
