The Ministry of Health has 16 vacancies open with incentives to hire more doctors at the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSBA), responsible for managing the José Joaquim Fernandes Hospital, in Beja, and 13 health centers.

According to an order from the previous Government, published last Thursday, March 28, in Diário da República, the measure aims to “reduce the asymmetries that exist in different regions, such as peripheral areas and areas with greater demographic pressure, which demonstrate greater difficulty in attracting new professionals”.

The opening of these vacancies will enable “greater equity in access to medical health care, minimizing regional asymmetries that may persist, especially in more peripheral areas or areas with greater demographic pressure”, adds the order.

In total, 322 vacancies were opened with incentives across the country, 16 of which for ULSBA, in the specialties of Anesthesiology, Cardiology, General Surgery, Gynecology/Obstetrics, Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Radiology, General and Family Medicine, and Public Health.
