The renovation works at the Batalha Municipal Swimming Pools begin on April 15th and the equipment will close its doors for five months.

In a press release, the municipality states that the work “includes the complete reformulation of the thermal plant and the supply of a condensing boiler for hot sanitary water, the installation of ventilation in the changing rooms and adjacent areas, and the partial replacement of the glazed spaces” .

Photovoltaic panels will also be installed on the building’s roof and the water filtration and treatment system will be replaced.

“It is also planned to implement a centralized integrated management system that will control all equipment and the reformulation of the gas network”, adds the municipality.

Batalha City Council assumes that this is an “ambitious” project, with interventions estimated at 700 thousand euros, plus VAT, which will allow “significantly reducing primary energy consumption, through the installation of more efficient machinery and equipment” .

Quoted in the press release, the president of the municipality, Raul Castro, states that the closure of the pools is “a sacrifice” for all users. “It’s a sacrifice we’re all making. Users will be without access to the pools for five months, but it is essential for the good of everyone”, highlighted the mayor.

The Batalha Municipal Swimming Pools were opened in October 1995 and currently have more than 1,400 monthly users, according to the municipality.

This will be “the most profound and comprehensive intervention in its almost 30 years of operation”.
