General Inspectorate of Internal Administration opens case against PSP agent who killed her kidnapper

A General Inspectorate of Internal Administration (IGAI) opened a case to investigate the circumstances in which, in the early hours of Monday, a PSP agent killed a man in his home with his service weapon.

To Expresso, the office of the inspector general of Internal Administration, Anabela Cabral Ferreira, confirmed that a process had been opened that if “intends to investigate the circumstances in which the firearm was used, resulting in death”.

As the newspaper progresses, also the Judiciary Police (PJ) is investigating the circumstances of the murder and the officer has already given a statement to the police. “He spoke and collaborated with us”says a source close to the process.

So far, the version presented by the agent, who belongs to the Special Police Unit (UEP), is considered credible, meaning that he acted in self-defense.

According to the police, it all started at 3:30 am at a traffic light in Algés, in the municipality of Oeiras.

Says He was coerced into going to an ATM to withdraw money and then forced to go to his own home.

As soon as they entered, the officer took his service weapon from a drawer and identified himself as a police officer. Next, under threat of a firearm, he fired a clear shot into the kidnapper’s heart and he died immediately.

According to Expresso, the weapon with which the suspect threatened the agent near the Jamor stadium was not real and the kidnappers acted to obtain quick money for the consumption of hard drugs.

The newspaper also tried to find out if the agent is on duty or if he has been discharged or has been subject to some type of sanction, however, so far it has not been possible to obtain a response.
