France, Spain and England will be the opponents of the under-17 team in the final phase of the category’s European Championship held this Wednesday in Cyprus, the host country of the competition that will take place from May 20th to June 5th.
«It’s a difficult group, as we expected. There are no easy teams here, there are some that have a greater CV than others. The draw is what it is, it’s not worth hiding it. This group fell to us, this is the group we have to face. We have already had success with some of these teams this season, namely Spain and England. We haven’t played against France yet. If we are worried, we believe that the other teams will also be with us», highlighted João Santos, who was present at the draw.
The Portuguese team was placed in Group D after winning the Elite Round with a 100% winning record, with triumphs over the Republic of Ireland (4-1), Croatia (3-0) and Germany (3-2) .
In the first qualifying phase, João Santos’ men had also beaten Albania (3-0), Montenegro (6-1) and Czechia (2-0).
