The Municipal Council of Marinha Grande approved, this Monday, the formalization of the expression of interest in developing a 5th generation Local Social Development Contract (CLDS 5G) in the municipality, which will have financing of 512 thousand euros, for the period four years.
The project will be coordinated by the Association for the Economic and Social Development of the Marinha Grande Region – Adeser II and aims to “strengthen social inclusion and anti-poverty policies in Portugal, viewing the territory as an essential dimension for their implementation”.
According to a press release from the municipality, the project is based on the axes of Employment, training and qualification and Social Development, community training and intervention in contexts of social emergency and exceptional scenarios.
Interventions within the scope of CLDS 5G will focus on population groups that show the most significant weaknesses and promote change, taking into account vulnerability factors such as unemployment, entitlement to social benefits, people experiencing homelessness and the aging rate of the population. population.
Its action prevents and combats social exclusion, particularly that of children, breaking intergenerational cycles of poverty and exclusion, in order to guarantee social and territorial cohesion.
