The municipalities of the Intermunicipal Community (CIM) of the Coimbra Region that are part of ERSUC – Solid Waste of the Center unanimously decided to take legal action against the company, contesting the distribution of dividends and free reserves.

This action follows the distribution of around two million euros to ERSUC shareholders, at a time when the company is heavily in debt and bearing very high financial costs.

It should be remembered that this decision to distribute dividends was also taken in the context of a significant 160% increase in waste treatment tariffs, between 2021 and 2024, which has penalized the municipalities and citizens of the Coimbra Region.

With the aim of ensuring the protection of citizens’ interests and increasing the efficiency of the waste management system, the municipalities of the CIM Region of Coimbra that use the ERSUC Waste Management System will continue to work towards responses to the various challenges faced in this sector, producing concrete actions and measures and always safeguarding the interests of the populations.
