The proposed public tender procedure for granting the right to operate the Cafeteria in Jardim Municipal da Mealhada, next to the City Hall, was unanimously approved by the municipal executive, in the public session that took place on the morning of this Monday, 22 Of april.
«In parallel to the work, which is ongoing, we are launching a competition with a bidding base of 350 euros + VAT per month, with a five-year right of exploration, renewed thereafter every two years», explained António Jorge Franco, president of the Mealhada Chamber, calling on competitors to “read the competition well to create good exploration projects. I think it will be a good investment for whoever stays there and indications are given so that the project prioritizes local products. There are several brands in the municipality for this».
The mayor also informed the executive that the space does not include equipment. «We are talking about fryers, toasters or even refrigerators, equipment that when damaged, the procedures by the Chamber would take a long time, so it doesn’t make any sense», said the mayor, adding that «the entities have to make this investment».
Filomena Pinheiro, vice-president of the Municipality, also called the space “emblematic”. «We were careful to have a very low base value and, therefore, we appeal to the honesty and seriousness of whoever presents the project», she emphasized.
After the opening of the competition, which will take place within a few days, competitors will have a month and a half to submit proposals.
Remember that «Esplanada Jardim» was demolished in March 2017, after being granted a concession for twenty years to a management that rented the space for exploration to other businessmen. The land is public and belongs to the Câmara da Mealhada.
