The JPP highlighted that the administrator of Sevenair assured that it would win the tender if there had not been a “deliberate intention” to hand over the operation to Binter, taking into account that it had “twice the score” of the other company.

Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) requested a parliamentary hearing from Sevenair to discuss the air connection with Porto Santo and also from the member of the jury, chosen by the Regional Government, for the competition for the air connection between Madeira and Porto Santo.

At issue are the accusations of “partiality and obstruction” made by the administrator of Sevenair, Carlos Amaro, against the member of the jury, chosen by the Regional Government, for the tender for the Porto Santo/Madeira air connection.

“There is a member of the jury appointed by the Regional Government of Madeira who, before the competition, even knowing the proposals, told the other members of the jury that he had instructions that Binter had to win”, highlighted the JPP, referring to statements by the administrator from Sevenair, Carlos Amaro, made to Antena 1.

The party force highlighted that the administrator of Sevenair assured that it would win the competition if there had not been a “deliberate intention” to hand over the operation to Binter, taking into account that it had “twice the score” of the other company.

The JPP highlighted that the exclusion of the company led to a challenge in court and the postponement of the conclusion of the contract, adding that the solution found has been the “successive extension” of the deadline, which has already happened “six times since 2022, with serious damage to the life of people and companies in Porto Santo”.

The party force considered that this “imbroglio is a very serious problem” and that this is the “time to find a definitive solution”.
