The Academic Week at the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo takes place over seven days, with a lineup full of well-known names from the national scene and the usual ingredients for success, such as the procession, the finalists’ mass and monumental serenade.

The countdown is over! The poster for the 36th Academic Week of the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo is now known. From the 18th to the 25th of May, all routes are destined for Viana do Castelo, with a mandatory passage through Ponte de Lima. In Refoios do Lima, Toy will headline a night that will also feature Kalhambeke and DJ Cozta. But first, the Academic Week has two of the most emblematic moments: the Monumental Serenade, on the 18th, at 11:59 pm, and the finalists’ mass, the following day, at 10 am, at Campo da Nossa Senhora da Agonia.

Academic procession will have the largest number of cars ever. There will be 19 and more than 2,500 students on parade.

The Academic Week takes a break on May 21st to recharge its batteries and resumes the following day, with the academic procession, dedicated to the theme of Historical Events. And this is where one of the “greatest achievements” of this year’s edition lies. “For the first time”, the academic procession will feature 19 floats. “There are three more than last year. And more cars also means more students in the parade. We are counting on more than 2,500 students, essentially those who entered the IPVC this academic year and the finalists”, explains the president of the Academic Federation of the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo, Henrique Maciel.

But May 22nd does not end with the academic procession. Far from it! The night will feature performances by Quem é o Bob?, a tribute to Bob Marley, followed by DJs Zanova and Pette. In between, Hinoportuna also takes the stage.

The following days will bring us to Viana do Castelo Pappillon, with Quim das Remisturas and DJ Kozzi, but also Mundo Segundo & Sam The Kid. The night only ends after performances by Oder and Avatar with DJ Kardo.

Federation expects positive result in this year’s edition
The last night is reserved for one of the big names in this year’s edition of Academic Week. Piruka promises to close the 2024 lineup with a bang. Overule and Vivian DJ Fábio Gonçalves complete the program.

“We have a very good program, with excellent headliners, who are generally known to the students, but I think we were also successful in hiring DJs”, describes Henrique Maciel, who says he is “quite satisfied” with the this year’s poster. “I feel fulfilled, not only because of the poster, which is in line with what we had thought, but also because I believe that this year we will have a positive balance at the end. I hope during Academic Week, but also at Freshman Reception”.
