More lines, more buses and free travel, this is how the Municipality of Barcelos designed the mobility plan for the Festa das Cruzes period. This year, in addition to the urban TUBA “special Vai e Vem”, the City Council extends the TUBA offer to the entire municipality, with the TUBA service “special parishes”. In the 26 car parks, there is space for five thousand vehicles.

Urban TUBA “Via e Vem special”
This year, the urban TUBA service “Vai e Vem” has seven lines:
Green Line – Lijó – Barcelos – Lijó
Red Line South – Barcelinhos – Barcelos – Barcelos
Orange Line – Rio Covo Santa Eugénia – Barcelos – Rio Covo Santa Eugénia
Blue Line – Tamel São Veríssimo – Barcelos – Tamel São Veríssimo
Pink Line – Arcozelo – Barcelos – Arcozelo
Yellow Line – Vila Frescainha São Pedro – Barcelos – Vila Frescainha São Pedro.
The urban TUBA service “special Vai e Vem” will operate in addition to the usual urban service, between April 30th and May 5th.

TUBA “special parishes”
As already mentioned, in addition to the urban TUBA “special Vai e Vem”, the City Council, for the first time, will implement the TUBA service “special parishes”, with seven lines, also operating between April 30th and May 5th:
Linha Negreiros, Chavão, Remelhe, Pereira, Alvelos, Barcelos;
Linha Aldreu, Fragoso, Palme, Feitos, Tamel Santa Leocádia, Vilar do Monte, Abade de Neiva, Barcelos;
Line Balugães, Cossourado, Panque, Igreja Nova, Alheira, Alvito São Pedro, Roriz, Lijó, Barcelos;
Linha Cruto, Ucha, Lama, Pousa, Areias São Vicente, Manhente, Tamel São Veríssimo, Barcelos;
Line Bastuço São João, Bastuço Santo Estêvão, Martim, Encourados, Adães, Airó, Gamil, Barcelos;
Linha Barqueiros, Vila Seca, Gilmonde, Barcelos;
Viatodos Line, Várzea, Gamil, Barcelos.
The TUBA “special parishes” service will operate at the following times: April 30th and May 2nd, leaving the parishes for Barcelos at 8pm and returning to the parishes at 1am. On the 1st, 3rd and 4th of May: departure from the parishes to Barcelos at 1:30 pm and 8:00 pm and departure from Barcelos to the parishes at 7:00 pm and 1:00 am. On May 5th: departure from the parishes to Barcelos at 1:30 pm and 8:00 pm and departure from Barcelos to the parishes at 7:00 pm and 00:00 am.
In addition to these special lines, the regular municipal TUBA will operate as usual.

Trains with more seats and Celta train stops
CP – Comboios de Portugal is also associated with the Festa das Cruzes and, on the May 1st holiday, it will expand the number of seats available on the Interregional service 853, 830, 831 and 856. On May 3rd, the municipal holiday, there will also be an expanded offer of seats available on the Interregional service 853 and 830. In addition to the greater offer of seats, CP informs that, on these holidays of May 1st and 3rd, the Celta train 420 and 423 will have stops at Barcelos station.

To allow easier access to the center of the Festa das Cruzes, the Municipality has prepared the following set of Peripheral Parking Lots that serve as an interface with the free TUBA buses.

Traffic Changes
The celebration of the Festa das Cruzes will require the restriction of car traffic on several streets in the city. Thus, Avenida da Liberdade will be closed to traffic from 6pm to 1am, on the 24th, 26th and 29th of April and the 2nd of May. On the 25th, 27th, 28th and 30th of April, and the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th of May, it will be closed to traffic all day.
May 1st – Battle of Flowers
Traffic shutdown, from 2pm to 7pm, on the streets: Avenida Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira, Largo dos Capuchinhos, Av. Alcaides de Faria, Rua Dr. José António PP Machado, Rua de Valpaços, Av. dos Combatentes. On Rua Cândido da Cunha, traffic and parking will be closed from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, and on Largo do Município from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
May 2nd and 4th – Historical recreation and Santiago Bridge Fire
Traffic interruption on the streets: Largo do Município, from 7pm to 2am; Rua Duques de Bragança, from 7pm to 2am; Largo Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, from 00:00 on the 2nd to 02:30 on the 3rd of May, and from 00:00 on the 4th to 02:30 on the 5th of May. Santiago’s Pilgrims’ Bridge will close from 1:30 pm to 2:00 am.
May 3rd – Procession of the Invention of the Holy Cross
Traffic interruption on the streets: Av. dos Combatentes, Largo do Município, from 3pm to 7pm, and Rua Duques de Bragança, from 3pm to 7pm. Santiago Pilgrims Bridge, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 am. Largo do Município, parking prohibited from 6am to 7pm.
May 5th – Ethnographic Parade
Traffic interruption on the streets: Av. Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira, Largo dos Capuchinhos, Av. Alcaides de Faria, Rua Dr. José António PP Machado, Rua de Valpaços, Av. dos Combatentes, Rua Cândido da Cunha, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. No parking, Rua Cândido da Cunha, from 10am to 7pm.
Arraial “Bamos à Cruzes”
Parking and circulation restrictions, from April 24th to May 6th, at Praceta Francisco Sá Carneiro for the installation, assembly and dismantling of the logistics of “Bamos aos Cruzes”.
