MTL brings Broadway to Portugal again with the presence of award-winning international artists – Life

The Broadway in Lisbon 2024 event will take place from the 15th to the 21st of July 2024, in Lisbon, and will include workshops, masterclasses, colloquiums and the second edition of the show “Broadway in the Park”.

The opening night of the event, on July 15th, will be attended by renowned Broadway star Bernadette Peters and will take place at Parque Mayer, in the Capitol, in Lisbon, with several musical performances by national artists.

Winner of a Golden Globe and nominated three times, two Tony Awards and nominated seven times, and also awarded three Drama Desk Awards out of eight nominations, she has become one of the most celebrated icons of recent decades. Four of cast recordings of musicals in which he acted won Grammy Awards.

In a statement, MTL said that tonight you can witness a celebration of the life and career of Bernadette Peters, with two musical moments performed by Sissi Martins, Rúben Madureira and other invited national artists, revisiting Peters’ notable themes and shows, accompanied on the piano by Joana David. There will also be a conversation with the artist, reflecting on her journey, followed by questions and an open conversation with the audience present.

On July 16th, at 9pm, the workshop “The Broadway Artist I Never Was”, by Luís David with Sissi Martins and Rúben Madureira, will take place in the Orlando Ribeiro Library Auditorium. From the 19th to the 21st of July, from 10am to 2pm, in the same location, the workshop with Gavin Creel will take place. Both have limited registrations.

On July 18th, at 8pm, in Parque Mayer, the talk with Gavin Creel and Will Swenson.

The show “Broadway no Parque”, which brings together ten Portuguese actors, singers and dancers on stage, with a live band, in a night of summer celebration of Musical Theatre, including some of its most successful themes, from classics to more recent hits , passing through the world of Disney, on a true trip to Broadway, will take place in the Jardim do Torel setting, on the 19th and 20th of July, at 9pm.

Tickets for this edition of the Broadway party in Lisbon are now available here. They cost between 10 and 20 euros. Tickets for the opening session with Bernadette Peters are not yet available.
