Norwegian writer Kristin Roskifte won, with “Todos Conta”, the main prize of the second edition of the Caminhos de Leitura Seal, awarded by the Observatório de Leitura, announced the Câmara de Pombal.

Written and illustrated by the author as “an adventure through all the diversity that the world has to offer”, “Todos Conta”, published in Portugal by Lilliput with translation by João Reis, received the “António Torrado – Honorable Mention” award, which distinguishes the book that stands out most in all categories in the competition.

The award-winning work is understood by the Reading Observatory jury as “a stimulus for mathematical reasoning and literacy”, highlighting the fact that the result is an “informative, careful and humorous game-book, whose theme is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals”.

According to the municipality of Pombal, in this second year of the award, 103 titles were received from 34 publishers and author editions. Among these, 31 Reading Paths Seals were awarded and three reading suggestions were indicated.

In the Distinction category, which highlights the ten best books of the year, the Observatory chose “Under the same Moon”, by Jimmy Liao, “There is patience, by Gonçalo Viana, “Os migrants”, by Marcelo Simonetti, “Olho de lynce – A incredible story of the Malapata family”, by Álvaro Magalhães, “Welcome to the south”, by Marianne Kaurin, “Here I wait for you and other stories”, by António Torrado, “If I open this door now…”, by Alexandre Rampazo, “The dog that Nino didn’t have”, by Edward van de Vendel, “The Pig Pond”, by James Marshall, and “That Whole and Clean Christmas”, by José Gardeazabal.

In addition to these, “the 20 essential books that cannot be missed in any library” were chosen for the Selecção label.

Caminhos de Leitura will also award the Brazil seal, a prize to be announced at the 21st edition of the Caminhos de Leitura Children’s Literature Meeting, which takes place in Pombal from the 13th to the 15th of June this year.

The Caminhos de Leitura Seal distinguishes works of literature for children and youth, in an initiative of the Reading Observatory, created within the scope of the Caminhos de Leiria Children’s Literature Meeting, organized annually by the municipality of Pombal.
