The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, informs that the Azores registered 4,899 unemployed people registered at the Region’s Qualification and Employment Center at the end of March, recording a drop of 0.89% in those registered looking for their first and new job in relation to the previous month, that is, February, and 11.04% in relation to the same month.

In March, another 113 offers were satisfied, which resulted in the placement of 118 Azoreans on the job market.

Of the unemployed people who were looking for a new job, 75.46% were in the service sector and corresponded to 89.59% of all registered unemployed people.

Regarding the distribution by island, São Miguel registered 66.99% of unemployed people in the Region, the island of Terceira, 15.29%, Pico, 5.70%, Faial, 4.04%, São Jorge, 2.31%, Graciosa , 2.08%, Flores, 1.84%, Santa Maria, 1.71% and Corvo 0.04%.

By municipalities, Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande and Angra do Heroísmo represented 57.28% of all unemployed people registered in the Azores.

Regarding socio-professional integration programs, in March 2024, there were 1,682 employed people in the Region, 901 men and 781 women.

Regarding measures to promote youth employment, 1642 young people were observed developing projects in a real work context, with emphasis on Estagiar L and T, and 301 Azoreans in training.
